Timpani Models use high quality bamboo poles, which are carefully selected for matching diameter, weight, balance and pitch. Joints and skins are lightly sanded and finished for smoothness, but left intact to preserve the bamboo's natural strength. Length of handles will vary from pair to pair between 15-16". Diameters come in three basic sizes: SM (29/64"), Med (1/2"), & LG (9/16"). 100% German wool felts are precisely split and hand sewn around cores. Medium soft felt is used for models T3, T4, and T5 (cartwheel wraps) and extra soft felt is used for models T2 and T6 (parachute wraps).

	T1 Chamois, Ultra Staccato cartwheel wrap; large wood core This model features a 1” maple core with a cartwheel style, chamois wrapped head. The sound is ultra staccato, bright, and bold. This model works well for early music and Baroque period repertoire. With it’s buffered wood core, it can also be a smart substitute in situations where a wood mallet is called for, but has too much attack.
	T2 Orange, Stacatto parachute wrap; large wood core This parachute style model features a 1” maple core with a medium thin layer of German felt, tightly sewn. The overall tone is clear and clean, with a legato approach. This versatile model works well for a wide range of repertoire, from Beethoven to 20th century.
	T3 Blue, Articulate General, cartwheel wrap; large wood core The T3 is a medium hard, general mallet with a cartwheel style wrap. A medium layer of durable and denser German style felt is precisely sewn around a 1” maple core. This model is well suited for a range of repertoire from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. With it’s easy clear tone, the T3 is great for orchestral, chamber, and wind ensemble settings.
	T4 Red, Small Medium General, cartwheel wrap; small wood core The T4 is a legato, medium general mallet with a cartwheel style wrap. A layer of American style felt softens the 3/4”maple core and is finished with a denser, German style felt, precisely sewn. This model is well suited for a range of repertoire from the 19th and 20th centuries. With it’s legato sound, the T4 is great for orchestral, chamber, and wind ensemble settings.
	T5 Green, Large Medium General, cartwheel wrap; large wood core The legato sound of the T5 is great for rolling. It’s designed with a large 1” maple core, and utilizes both American and German style felts in this cartwheel style wrap. The sound is big and heavy, yet warm. The T5 is designed for large ensemble settings and is well suited for the late romantics such as Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Mahler.
	T6 Purple, Rollers, parachute wrap; large wood core The warm, rich sound of the T6 is comfortable in quiet passages. Designed with a parachute style wrap, layers of American and German style felt are carefully sewn on a large 1” maple core. This medium soft attack sounds great in Romantic to contemporary repertoire where warm rolls and accompanying passages prevail.
	TMC Michael Crusoe, Artist Signature Series timpani model features a maple and chamois core wrapped with a high quality, steam-pressed wool felt. This staccato mallet is well suited for classical and early romantic period repertoire such as Mozart and Beethoven symphonies. With a range in length from 14.5 to 15.25 inches, this model is smaller in scale, with a clear and balanced staccato sound. Bamboo handles are carefully matched for diameters of ½” to 17/32”, as well as a medium weight. Joints are finely sanded for smoothness and carefully placed for premium balance.
