AMY PUTNAM BIO

Ms. Amy Putnam, Master of Music '96, The Juilliard School, is Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA) and has been visiting faculty in percussion at Miami University of Ohio. Ms. Putnam is Principal Percussion with both the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra and The Bellevue Philharmonic, as well as Section Percussion with the Northwest Sinfonietta. As a Percussionist and Timpanist, Ms. Putnam has performed with The Seattle Symphony, The Oregon Symphony, The Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, The Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, Candide at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre in NYC, The Seattle Chorale Company, The Echternach Festival Orchestra in Luxembourg, The Cosmopolitan Symphony Orchestra in NYC, The Aspen Music Festival, and many more. A part of SeattleÕs freelance scene, she also is active recording film and TV scores for Disney, Dreamworks, Microsoft, Universal, A&E, FOX, TNT, Artisan, ABC and NBC.
As a marimba and multi-percussion soloist, Ms. Putnam has performed with The Tacoma Symphony, The Bellevue Philharmonic, The Tacoma Concert Band, The Miami University Symphony Orchestra, L'Orchestre des Professeurs du Luxembourg, The University of Puget Sound Percussion Ensemble, and Luxembourg Percussion. In 1996 she was the first place winner in the Aspen Marimba Competition and has previously also been the winner of the MU Young Artist and Concerto competitions. In 1998 she was a finalist in the St. Louis Symphony Young Artists Competition and in 1995 was a semi-finalist in the International Competition for Percussion in Luxembourg.
After founding her own business, A. PUTNAM MALLETS, in 1988, Ms. Putnam has given demonstrations and masterclasses at The Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, The Percussive Arts Society International Convention, The Luxembourg Conservatory of Music, The University of British Columbia, and The New York Day of Percussion. APM mallets can be heard in every leading US orchestra, including The New York Philharmonic, The MET, The Cleveland Orchestra, The Chicago Symphony, The St. Louis Symphony, and The Dallas Symphony.
Ms. Putnam also holds a Bachelor of Music in Education and Performance from Miami University, Ohio, and a Prix Superieur Diploma in Percussion from Le Conservatoire de Musique de la Ville du Luxembourg.
Ms. Putnam lives in the greater Seattle area with her husband, Bryce, and daughter, Alexandra.
